Mapi Error

Answer

ChessBase can send E-Mails with positions, games or databases. This needs a Default E-Mail Client (like Outlook) installed on your system. If that is the case, sending messages from ChessBase is simple.

Database window: Menu File – E-Mail Selected Database

or

List window: Select games, right-click and use Output – E-Mail Selected Games - Dispatches the selected games.

In both cases the mail client pops up and allows you to type in the recipient.

Eventually you receive a mapi error that says " there was no default logon & the user failed to log on successfully when  the logon dialog box was displayed."

Your Email program is not registered as your default Email client. Check the settings of your Email client or use the Windows Documentation. The email program must  support the Standard Simple MAPI.

MAPI (Messaging Application Program Interface) is a Microsoft Windows program interface that enables you to send e-mail from within a Windows application and attach the document you are working on to the e-mail note. Applications that take advantage of MAPI include word processors, spreadsheets, and graphics applications. MAPI-compatible applications typically include a Send Mail or Send in the File pulldown menu of the application.

All (Browser) based Mailaccounts, for example Yahoo/Gmail etc. do not support the Mapi Protocol. You need a Mail client which supports it.

Outlook or the free Mail program Thunderbird supports Mapi and works fine with our Programs!
